I moved a few files into the snippet directory. When I try to import them they do not show up on the list. I tried restart. I also noticed they are missing when I try to manually open them using File-Open.

Some short answres could help...
Which version of SMath are you using? If you are working on windows Vista/7 platform, have you administrator privileges?

Did you try to set snippet Shortcut using "File" > "Properties"?
