Click with the left mouse button close to the region:
drag to the oposite corner until the region turns into blue:
Releae the mouse button:
The same is for selecting multiple adjecent regions:
If you want to select not adjecent regions, just select the firts one and the subsequent ones add by pressing (and kepping) CTRL button. Then with the left mouse button add the regions of interest.
