Baseline glitch in math regions

 Description

There seem to be problems with correct baseline detection of fonts. In the example below, the roman (upright) font has a lower baseline than the italic version of the same character. In general the italic symbols have a strange vertical offset. Therefore the multiply dot appears too low.
